U.F.O. III COMPETING AT ROYAL WINDSOR HORSE SHOW
Charlotte started riding aged 4, after a family friend thought it would be a good idea to pay a visit to a local riding school. Little did anyone know that it would later become a full time career for Charlotte.
With her first pony at 8 years old, Charlotte began to compete at various shows locally, particularly enjoying cross country.
It wasn't until the age of 17 that by a strange coincidence and a phone call to Emma Armstrong that Charlotte decided to go into showjumping more seriously. After sending the horse she had at the time to Mark for schooling, she did some work experience there where she was lucky enough to travel to some top shows including the Spanish Sunshine Tour and The British Open Showjumping Championships. Together with her parents they bought a half share of "Horia Du Nuretz" which Mark competed and who is now on the Junior European team being ridden by Brett Gardner.
After almost a year at the Armstrongs, Charlotte moved to BSJA accredited coach Andy Austin where she really learnt her trade. Based there for 2 1/2 years, she learnt a lot from both Andy and Anna Austin. She gained experience in not only training and competing, but also grooming, horse management and running a yard of competition horses. In the time spent at the Austins Charlotte progressed from jumping Newcomers to jumping successfully round young riders and 1.40m tracks.
In June 2006 Charlotte moved to the new base of Clarendon Stud. Now out of young riders Charlotte is building up a strong string of young horses while also beginning to breed her own. Highlights this year include Blue Chip finals, Amateur final in Hickstead International Arena and compteting at Horse of the Year Show with UFO in the 6yr old and Newcomers finals.
After a successful show at HOYS, Charlotte went out to Holland to gain some training with young Dutch star Willem Greve. After arriving, she found out that he was infact based on Olympic Gold medallist Jeroen Dubbeldams yard. After 1 week on their yard, she decided to extend her stay from 2 to 5 weeks, helping them prepare horses for the famous "Expo Talent Sale". Here she gained even more experience and knowledge from both these hugely talented riders. Charlotte hopes to return to Stal De Sjiem in 2008 for some more training with her own horses.
